從小家中便經營印刷廠的Calvin，從小對紙有莫名的熱情，對他來說，紙不只是書寫的工具，更是有生命的物體。在2007年的一年多前的某天，他神來一筆的用美工刀與西卡紙做了第一件卡榫作品：科卡瓦多山的耶穌像，之後就彷彿有人在旁提示般的，讓他迅速創造出Tenonart最初的幾件作品：Adonis、Grase、Moze等...，從此奠定Tenonart的基本方向。一年後，Calvin在一次禮拜的機緣下遇到闊別7年的老同事 Ray，兩人一同栽進卡榫的神奇魅力中，共同一起建立起Tenonart 坦諾藝術。
Calvin's parents owns a printing company where he has worked since he was young. Since he was little; he has always been instereasted in paper.To him, paper is not only a tool for writing, but it can come alive. One day in 2007, he crafted his first tenon art creation: The Jesus statue on Corcovado Cristo Redentor. After that, it was as he was inspired to create quickly the very first few creations from Tenonart: Adonis, Grase, Moze, etc.This has helped to establish the direction Tenonart is heading. One year later, in a church meeting Calvin bumped into his former co-worker Ray, who he hasn't seen for 7 years. They both fell in love with the Tenonart project and together continue to build Tenonart the Art of Tenon.
Tenon就是卡榫，Tenonart顧名思義就是運用卡榫技術所創造出來的藝術作品。團隊們在創作的過程中，從未拿著動物圖片或是模型在旁比擬模仿，而是完全靠腦海中故事主角應有體態與表情，經過不停的修改而完成的作品。因此工作室裡滿滿都是修改過程中，捨不得丟的半成品，覺得他們是有生命的個體，念舊的不願意丟棄任何一個。設計師們對於品質的要求甚嚴，就連使用的紙材，都因遍尋不到滿意的紙，特別找紙廠開發出Tenonart專用的紙版，不論在雷射的彫刻完整度、硬挺度，都必須達到他們的品質要求。
Tenon art is the art of using tenon with the laser technology to create art products. The team never use pictures or models of animals to copy or imitate; instead they would shape and try to represent the lively character they have in mind. Therefore it is very common the studio was filled with half-established creations. The designer team is very strict on the quality to the point that they found paper company to specially made tenon paper for Tenonart so the paper will show excellent results in the cutting from laser but at the same time still retain the texture needed.
沒有生命的紙版，歷經情感的累積、精準的切割與細心拼湊後從平面轉變成立體，更讓人驚艷的是，彷彿附了魔法般的有了靈魂，凍結故事裡的片刻神態，細細品味他們的眼神與動作，不難能感受到他們當時的心情……….一頭正在等待戀人的鹿、一個尋找孩子的母猩猩…..。那種生命感，彷彿就在下一秒會眨眼…會跳到你面前，讓人完全忘了他們曾經只是冷冰的紙版，也讓我們看見了Tenonart的魔法能量。
The liveless paper; with the artist's emotions, accurate cutting, and carefully put together; became 3-Dimentional. And the creation became magically filled with soul and came alive, capturing the essence and gesture of that particular moment of the character. If you look at the object closely, you can feel the emotions.... A deer awaits for his lover, a female gorilla searching for her child... It makes you forget these creations were once liveless paper which now pops out in front of you with life. This is the magic power of Tenonart.
